Strawberry Chia Seed Jam

Hey Friends!

I have the most delicious, healthy “Strawberry Chia Seed Jam”, to share with you on the blog today! You can put this on anything; on top yogurt, on toast, you can make a PB & J, put it on a granola bar, the list is endless. If you want to know how you make this quick and easy, three ingredient jam 

Strawberries probably fall under my top five, favourite fruit of all time! They are so full in flavour, so juicy and incredibly satisfying. I make it a HUGE priority to go strawberry picking every year, because that’s where you will find the true flavour of a REAL strawberry. What you buy in grocery stores today just don’t cut. So, you if you have a farmers market around you that grow strawberries themselves, or a farm nearby or even if it’s far, make it a day trip with your loved ones because I guarantee, you guys will be making a tradition out of it too! Pick HEAPS and freeze them for the next couple of months or if you’re like me, next couple of weeks. AAAhh!! I LOVEEE STRAWWBERRIES!!!!

If you’re ready, lets jump right into this delicious recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Cups of sliced strawberries (freshly picked works best, but store bought and or frozen will do too!
  • 3 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Agave or Honey

DIRECTIONS

Total Prep & Cooking Time: 20 Minutes

  1. Put your two cups of your sliced strawberries & Tbsp of agave in a small pot on low heat and allow the strawberries to release their liquid, once this happens the berries will start to soften. You can leave the berries chunky or you can smash them with a spoon while they simmer to create a smoother consistency. The strawberries should soften up in about 10 mins.
  2. Add chia seeds and mix it in with the strawberries. This will help the jam to thicken, allow another 5 mins for this. Once you get the desired consistency, take it off the stove and allow it to chill. During this time the jam will thicken up even more. Put it in a jar and once its cooled put it the fridge for when you are ready to devour it!

Guys, Its really that simple. Its fresh, homemade, no crazy amounts of sugar added and you know exactly whats going into your food. The best thing about this jam is that the chia seeds add protein! Which allows you to get in more nutrients in the morning, keeping you full, longer!
